The Lord of the Nine Netherworlds rebelled but was severely injured by Xu Qing and his master before escaping. Under orders to find the Lord’s remaining soul and the Nuwa Stone, Xu Qing encounters Bai Mengsheng, a serpent demon. The Lord of the Nine Netherworlds possesses another’s body, devouring the Nuwa Stone and Bai Mengsheng’s powers, greatly increasing his strength. Xu Qing and Bai Mengsheng’s souls enter the Lord’s body, where Xu Qing sacrifices himself to destroy the enemy, sealing his own remnant soul within the Nuwa stone. Fifty years later, with his master’s help, Xu Qing is resurrected and reunited with Bai Mengsheng.
